Toronto – March 2, 2016 – The IT Media Group is pleased to announce two new Masters Series CIO Roundtables beginning in April: “CIO Priorities to Survive and Thrive in Lean Times” and “Winning the IT Talent Wars”. We wish to thank Salesforce for their sponsorship of both events.
The current speed and velocity of change has created an unprecedented challenge to CIOs tasked with maintaining a strategy that best serves the needs of the business. For the CIOs in Alberta, there’s another dimension to that challenge as the economic crisis forces executives to rethink their operational goals, business models, strategies and to a certain degree, their careers.
On April 7th, Calgary area CIOs will share strategies for coping with the present economic realities. They will explore tactics and innovative ideas to direct their focus not only towards addressing short-term challenges, but also towards developing a sustainable growth strategy.
Amidst the current economic downtown, maintaining the right mix of IT skills is a struggle made more challenging by the increasing pace of business and technology change. The role of IT needs to evolve along with these changes.
On April 28th, Toronto area CIOs will explore how IT skill requirements are evolving and the challenges CIOs face in maintaining an effective work force. Participants will share ideas and successful practices for the recruitment, training and retention of IT staff. They will discuss how workplace culture and practices are impacted as digital-savvy millennials make up a growing percentage of the workforce.
“These topics are extremely relevant and compelling to our CIO community”, said Nasheen Liu, Partner & VP, Strategy at The IT Media Group. “We look forward to strategizing winning tactics with some of the brightest minds across key industries”.

AI is no longer experimental. It’s operational. It’s funded. And it’s expected to deliver. Yet a new global study from Hitachi Vantara reveals a hard truth many CIOs already suspect: AI success is being limited not by algorithms, but by data infrastructure.
Cyber incidents are no longer isolated IT events. They are enterprise-level crises that can halt operations, trigger regulatory scrutiny and erode customer trust overnight. Yet too often, planning for how to respond is treated as a compliance checkbox or delegated piecemeal across functions.

Artificial Intelligence is no longer a buzzword; it's a daily boardroom reality. CIOs are tasked not only with adopting AI but also with translating their "AI promise" into operational and financial value. However, despite board-level urgency and growing enterprise investments, many AI programs still fail to deliver—not due to lack of ambition, but because of a strategic value gap.
AI is transforming industries at warp speed, with companies across sectors driven by its potential to accelerate revenue growth, boost operational efficiency and customize customer experiences.
