Data and applications are fundamentally changing business models and operational processes, while creating new customer experiences. As pivotal players in the critically important digital transformation of our businesses, CIOs must find ways to harness innovation and help their organizations find quicker and better ways to create, sell and deliver their products and services.
With this goal in mind, 17 IT executives from the Toronto area gathered on December 9 for another of The IT Media’s Group’s highly regarded Master Series Roundtables, this one entitled “CIO Essentials to Digital Transformation”. This very interactive discussion was moderated by Jeff Ishii, ITMG’s Chief Technologist, and sponsored by Salesforce, represented at the table by Chris Makkreel, Head of Solution Engineering.
Key discussion topics included: using digital technologies to create new business models; realizing benefits from such new models; stimulating innovation within the IT organization and the company; leveraging the abilities and creativity of millennials; meeting the ongoing challenges of security; educating Boards on the need for technology innovation and risk mitigation; and overcoming the barriers to technology innovation.
“The conversation was very engaging. Everybody came with a different view or approach to digital transformation,” said Chris Makkreel. “The reality is that it’s everywhere and it will affect all parts of the business. A lot of people are excited about the opportunity it presents, and are trying to figure out how to guide the organization to take advantage of it.”
“The conversation was excellent,” agreed moderator Jeff Ishii. “I heard so many great tactics for dealing with digital transformation. It’s obviously something that everyone is engaged in and looking for ways to use it to bring benefits to their organizations.”
